Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, “Where have I gone wrong?” Then a voice says to me, “This is going to take more than one night.

Don’t be a ‘writer’.
Be writing.
by William Faulkner
It’s so hard to forget pain, but it’s even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness. We learn so little from peace.
by Chuck Palahniuk, Diary
When reading, we don’t fall in love with the characters’ appearance. we fall in love with their words, their thoughts, and their hearts. we fall in love with their souls.

Only enemies speak the truth; friends and lovers lie endlessly, caught in the web of duty.
by Stephen King
The people who move through the streets are all strangers. At each encounter, they imagine a thousand things about one another; meetings which could take place between them, conversations, surprises, caresses, bites. But no one greets anyone; eyes lock for a second, then dart away, seeking other eyes, never stopping…something runs among them, an exchange of glances like lines that connect one figure with another and draw arrows, stars, triangles, until all combinations are used up in a moment, and other characters come on to the scene
by Italo Calvino, Invisible Cities
Closing your eyes isn’t going to change anything. Nothing’s going to disappear just because you can’t see what’s going on. In fact, things will even be worse the next time you open your eyes. That’s the kind of world we live in. Keep your eyes wide open. Only a coward closes his eyes. Closing your eyes and plugging up your ears won’t make time stand still.
by Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore
Sometimes, it’s the scary things in life that are the most worthwhile.

Movies I Loved in 2013 001. For A Good Time Call
Well, I got my period when I was twelve? And I wasn’t close with my mom, so I called my older, cooler cousin Wendy and I went over to her house I - I bike rided over, and she brought me into the bathroom to do the whole tampon tutorial and…y’know what I mean? And we were standing there, legs open, flaps open, are you with me? Okay, I’m jamming it up there, I’m trying to make it fit, and there’s blood everywhere, it just looks like this horrible murder scene, and I look over and…and that’s when I see it. A wart. Not on me, on Wendy’s left labia! And she saw me see it, and obviously I was horrified, and that’s when she said it to me: “If you don’t want one of these, don’t have sex in high school. After that, just make sure you’re in love with whoever it is.” And no one was ever in love with me.
The person who tries to keep everyone happy often ends up feeling the loneliest.

Not just beautiful, though—the stars are like the trees in the forest, alive and breathing. And they’re watching me.
by Haruki Murakami
I love unmade beds. I love when people are drunk and crying and cannot be anything but honest in that moment. I love the look in people’s eyes when they realize they’re in love. I love the way people look when they first wake up and they’ve forgotten their surroundings. I love the gasp people take when their favorite character dies. I love when people close their eyes and drift to somewhere in the clouds. I fall in love with people and their honest moments all the time. I fall in love with their breakdowns and their smeared makeup and their daydreams. Honesty is just too beautiful to ever put into words.
